A Life Dedicated to Classical Dance

Soumya Sreekumar is a dedicated Indian classical dancer and educator whose journey is shaped by discipline, tradition, and artistic curiosity. Trained at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam in Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam, she blends authentic technique with heartfelt expression in every performance and class.

A Journey Rooted in Tradition

Soumya Sreekumar's journey into the world of Indian classical dance began at the age of six under the guidance of Kalamandalam Usharani. From her earliest years, she embraced the discipline, grace, and expressive beauty that define classical dance. This strong foundation ignited a lifelong passion for preserving India's rich cultural heritage through the performing arts.

Mastering the Art, Honoring the Legacy.

Her passion for dance led her to Kerala Kalamandalam, one of India's most prestigious institutions for classical arts, where she underwent intensive training in Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam. Alongside practical performance, she studied Indian aesthetics, literature, and the theoretical principles of classical dance. This comprehensive education shaped her artistic vision and deepened her appreciation for the traditions she continues to uphold.

Empowering Every Student to Dance with Confidence.

Believing that knowledge grows when it is shared, Soumya began her teaching career at Aranmula Vinjana Vedi, where she trained students from diverse cultural backgrounds. She later established her own dance institution in Aranmula, creating a space where tradition meets creativity and every student receives personalized guidance. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, artistic expression, and confidence while nurturing a lifelong love for classical dance.

Building Cultural Bridges

Soumya expanded her artistic journey internationally by serving for over a decade as a performer and instructor at Kalabhavan Bahrain. She later founded Abhyaas Arts Centre in Bahrain, an institution dedicated to promoting Indian classical and folk arts. Today, she continues to inspire students across generations, preserve India's artistic traditions, and foster meaningful cultural connections through performances, education, and mentorship around the world.

A Legacy That Continues to Inspire

For Soumya Sreekumar, dance is more than an art form—it is a lifelong journey of learning, teaching, and inspiring. Through decades of dedication, she has preserved the timeless traditions of Indian classical dance while embracing opportunities to share its beauty with audiences across the world.
